It is a good idea to assign a known ip in your routers DHCP settings. does your forwarded port work? check this with sites like If your friends have trouble to connect to you: Setup a dynamic DNS updater on your router or pc. Go to options->server->network configuration I would be nice if somebody out there took a few minutes and described, in plain English, all step required for the darknet setup. There maybe other configuration items required to configure RetroShare as a Darknet. I assume it refers to the Network Address Translation but as to its configuration I have no idea. I have also found a reference to NAT and I do not know what it do with it. in my router settings (linksys), in the port forwarding there is an application name text field, ip address text field (should i put the wifi adapter address here?), TCP Port and UDP Port text fields (should i input the port number of the local address in the RetroShare settings into the tcp and udp port fields in the router settings?)Ĥ. it does not appears to be the router's address. there is also an external address and its port and this I am not sure what it is. So, should i change the local ip address in the settings to match the wifi adapter?. I am using the wifi adapter which has a different ip address. there is a local address and a port associated with it and it appears to be the ip address of the Ethernet adapter in my computer. I understand that in the settings->server->network configuration "Manual Forward Port" should be selected in one of the dropdown lists (again, the list does not have a label). Port Forwarding should be set up in the application as well as on the router. I have found no such configuration item in the setting that would allow me to turn if off.ģ. IP/Certificate Discovery should be turned off. go to the settings->server->network configuration and select the "Darknet: None" in one of the dropdown lists (the list does not have a label).Ģ. DHT (Digital Hash Table) should be turned off. References I encountered refer to the following items:ġ. Anybody there can describe steps in a very plain language leading to the darknet setup. I did find just a few reference yet all of the were murky to say the least. I looked for the relevant information on this forum with no success. I am trying to configure the RetroShare as a Darknet.
