![]() ![]() Like Alex said, the car might have garn through water or something but I guess I’ll never know, I did get it at a good price though and I guess I’m going to have to fix it now. The odd thing is that it performed really well and didn’t noticeably smoke though? When the car had warmed up it started fine every time, that is obviously how he sold the car to me, every time I took it for a drive it had already been warmed up before I got there so it stated fine. ![]() When it did this I manually closed the relay to the glow plugs and it started (obviously needed a good 10 or so turns). After lots of hassle I eventually noticed that when the ambient temperature was just above the glow plug assist temperature (the glow plugs apparently only come on at low temperatures and are not normally needed from around 10 degrees Celsius and up - except if the compression is lacking a little like in mine). Like I said, the car was battling to start intermittently in the mornings. No wonder why I got the car at a good price. It picked up to between 17-22bar when a little oil was added. Īlex, the compression on my engine is definitely under spec, it’s supposed to be a minimum of 24Bar and mine is between 12-17bar (between cylinders when tested dry and cold). Sorry about the long story, but it is a sad one for me and I have to tell it. Thanks again Alex for your replies to my post last week.Ĭan one of you clever guys please tell me if there is an idle regulating unit, where it is, and what does it look like? ![]()
